Sheryl Katta-Charles, MD

Sheryl Katta-Charles, M.D. joined IU Health Physicians and IU School of Medicine Department of PM&R Faculty July 2015, after completing residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan/Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She received her medical doctorate degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies and her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from University of Illinois at Chicago. She enjoys caring for patients requiring neurorehabilitaiton as well as general orthopedic rehabilitation. When she is not working, Dr. Charles enjoys running, travelling, watching movies with her husband, and playing with her new baby girl.

James F. Malec, Ph.D.

James F. Malec, Ph.D., is Professor and Research Director in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Indiana University School of Medicine and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana. He is a Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the Mayo Clinic and is Board Certified in Clinical Neuropsychology and in Rehabilitation Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is active in both lay and professional groups involved with the concerns of people with brain injuries, including the Brain Injury Association, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the International Neuropsychological Society. He has received a number of professional recognitions, including the Lowman Award from the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine for interdisciplinary contributions to rehabilitation, the Research Award of the North American Brain Injury Society, the Career Service Award from the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota, and the prestigious Robert L. Moody Prize for Distinguished Initiatives in Brain Injury Research and Rehabilitation. He has over 125 peer-reviewed publications as well as other professional publications and continues to conduct research in brain injury rehabilitation and other areas of neuropsychology and behavioral medicine.

Rachel Milstead, PA

Rachel E. Milstead joined RHI, IU School of Medicine Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department, and IU Health Physicians as a Physician Assistant September 2012.   She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology (Athletic Training) from DePauw University, Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences and Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Butler University.  Milstead is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, National Athletic Trainers Association, and Indiana Athletic Trainers Association.
